PepsiAmericas operates in four Central European countries: Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Republic of Slovakia. Expanding our geographic footprint, we acquired a 49 percent interest in the Romanian Pepsi bottler in June 2005, which includes distribution rights in Moldova.

Focusing on productivity while expanding our product portfolio drove operating profits of $1.5 million, despite challenges of higher commodity costs and difficult trade dynamics in Hungary. We continued to leverage our infrastructure with the distribution of Frito Lay snacks in Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as Beck's beer in Poland.
