PepsiAmericas' U.S. market extends throughout America's heartland
including 19 states and accounts for approximately 19 percent of total
U.S. Pepsi volume. The majority of our markets enjoy high-share
positions.
2005 UNITED STATES
Pricing strength, good cost management and a prudent acquisition drove
our operating performance in the United States. We had a solid pricing
increase of 3.6 percent and non-carbonated volume growth of 16 percent.
In addition, our newly acquired Florida and Ohio territories made a
meaningful contribution. We managed higher raw material costs and
controlled selling, delivery and administrative expenses to drive an
operating income improvement of 16.7 percent to $387.7 million.
