What is the oldest Pepsi product?

Pepsi-Cola. Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist, concocted his own beverage made from kola nut extract, vanilla and rare oils in 1898. People liked it so much, they began to call it Brad's Drink. Bradham renamed it Pepsi-Cola and in 1902 the Pepsi-Cola Company opened its doors to market the new drink. For 65 years Pepsi-Cola was the sole drink marketed by the company. Then in 1963, a new low-calorie drink with taste worthy of the Pepsi-Cola trademark was introduced. It was called Diet Pepsi. In 1964, Mountain Dew left its Appalachian Mountain birthplace and joined the Pepsi-Cola family.

As the second largest Pepsi-Cola bottler, we are aligned with the Pepsi system to bring new products to market. We look for brands that fill a consumer need and introduce new packages to meet the consumer needs for improved shopability and uses.

Does PepsiAmericas make all of the beverages that it sells and distributes, or are some of the beverages made elsewhere and then simply distributed by PepsiAmericas?

PepsiAmericas produces the bulk of our carbonated beverages at more than 25 production facilities worldwide. Additionally, we bottle and sell Aquafina water and Fruitworks for our system. Additional brands are also co-packed or produced by another bottler and shipped to PepsiAmericas for distribution.

Is PepsiAmericas responsible for advertising individual products such as Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Sierra Mist?

PepsiAmericas obtains the benefits of national advertising campaigns conducted by PepsiCo and the other beverage companies whose products we sell. We supplement PepsiCo's national ad campaign by purchasing advertising in our local markets, including the use of television, radio, print and billboards. We also make extensive use of in-store, point-of-sale displays to reinforce the national and local advertising and to stimulate demand.

Why can't I find my favorite product in my neighborhood store?

PepsiAmericas products are geographically distributed via consumer demand. A product may have broader consumer appeal in one area than another, and therefore, it may be distributed within the PepsiAmericas system but not within the entire territory. If you would like to see a product in your area, please contact PepsiCola Consumer Relations at 1-800-433-2652.
